UPS On-Job-Supervision (OJS) Certification Practice Test

Standard work captures exactly how a task should be performed: the specific steps, the sequence to follow, and the expected outcomes. This creates a predictable, repeatable method that can be taught, audited, and improved. When everyone follows the same steps with the same timing and quality criteria, variation drops, training becomes faster, and safety and efficiency improve—key aspects in a UPS operation where consistency matters for service and safety.

If someone mentions any approach is fine as long as the result is the same, you lose control over how the work is done, which can affect safety, quality, and throughput. Describing standard work as optional or merely as a flexible guideline misses its purpose of providing a fixed, repeatable method that supports reliable performance and continuous improvement.
